I thoroughly enjoyed this re-make of the traditional Disney film, and even with a few added scenes and songs it was very true to the original. I loved the human live acting with animation of iconic characters such as the Beast, Lumiere and Clockswoth – it fascinated me how real they can make characters look with CGI.
This video compares the trailer to the original and re-make of this film and shows the similarities reinforcing how true the remake is to the original Disney film.
It includes multiple iconic actors and actresses such as Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Emma Thompson, Ian McKellen and Ewan McGregor which made it even more popular as the public could see how successful it was by casting multiple iconic celebrities. I thought every character acted amazingly especially Luke Evans playing Gaston as he was very true to the original character and played him very well.
Multiple low angles were used to portray characters such as Gaston and the Beast as powerful and domineering however on the contrary high angles were used to portray Belle and other characters to make them appear inferior and weak in position to their surroundings and other characters. The lighting changes throughout depending on the scene as it sets the atmosphere to be dark and eerie or bright and cheerful. It followed the Tzvetan Todorov theory of narrative, just like a typical Disney film. I would give this a 8 out of 10.
